Spore Registration- How to solve the "serial code used to install this game cannot be verified" problem.?

I installed Spore using the correct serial code, it was bought new from the store.



Whenever I try to register, (so i can get patches, etc.) it says the serial code a I used could not be validated, did someone guess my key?
